Boxwood oboe with ivory bands and ten brass keys, signed "(5-pointed star) / Thibouville / Freres / (5-pointed star)" made in La Couture c.1840. Length 60.0cm. One interesting keywork feature is the see-saw pivoted between the Eb and low C keys, enabling slurring by sliding the finger along the see-saw bar, a feature usually only seen on oboes made by Brod.

Price £2500.00
Instrument #346
References
"Planche V" from "GRANDE MÉTHODE de HAUTBOIS par H. BROD" Paris c.1850 which shows an oboe with exactly the same keywork configuration as this one.
